The government of Canada has announced support for the agricultural sector following the imposition of tariffs by China.
In response, Agriculture Minister Kody Blois announced enhanced support through AgriStability, increasing the compensation rate to 90% and doubling the payment cap to $6 million for 2025. Provinces and territories can also opt into higher interim payments (up to 75% of estimated final payments) and Targeted Advance Payments for sectors facing market disruptions, such as hog producers affected by African Swine Fever.
